The Shadow of Sugar Palms

Travel like the wind - sugar palm, rice field, Pathum Thani

The shadows of sugar palm trees stretch across the rice field, like traces of time cast upon the present. Society has gradually transformed; a once simple way of life has been replaced by attachment to luxury and haste. Nature is no longer seen as a living companion, but merely as construction material, while polluted air is inhaled with unsettling familiarity.

In this rice field, the shadows of the past still remain—sugar palm trees that have stood resilient more than a  hundreds of years, silent witnesses to change. Though everything shifts with time and nothing remains unchanged, we cannot halt the relentless current of greed, delusion, and obsession that floods human society.

Yet, at the very least, we can pause time for a brief moment through an image of lasting impression. Palm groves and rice fields are inseparably bound, coexisting in quiet harmony. Flocks of birds glide playfully through the wind before sunset, completing the living canvas of the countryside.

The sky, drifting clouds, and birds returning to their nests accompany the sun as it casts its final light of the day. Soon, the curtain of night unfolds, revealing the shimmering glow of the moon and stars across the heavens.

In that fleeting moment, the shadow of sugar palms in the rice field is not merely a remnant of the past, but a gentle reminder that amid an ever-changing world, the beauty of simplicity and the soft whispers of nature still endure.
