Travel like the wind – Suchart Choolee

If the wind could tell stories, it would carry countless tales that have swept through our lives and moved on. On days filled with questions and uncertainties, bringing oneself to a place—a place that recharges the soul—can offer unexpected clarity.

The atmosphere of Sanam Luang, circling around the Grand Palace, and walking forward along Ratchadamnoen Avenue, the historical road that bridges the past, the present, and the future of Bangkok.

Sanam Luang, formally known as “Thung Sanam Luang”, is like the heartbeat of the nation, pulsing amid the everyday lives of the people for generations. In the past, it was the sacred ground for royal ceremonies, surrounded by reverence and devotion. Yet in another light, it was also a vast open space for ordinary people—a place of rest, release, and connection within the chaos of the capital. There were children’s laughter, colorful balloons, and even the silent tears of the homeless who once found refuge under the same sky.

Not far from there, the Grand Palace stands tall as the ultimate symbol of the Thai monarchy—gracing the land for centuries. Its exquisite architecture blends Thai artistry with Western influence, reflecting the graceful transitions across eras. The royal halls, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and each city gate act like quiet yet powerful pages of living history.

From there, heading northwest, one finds themselves on Ratchadamnoen Avenue—a road that never sleeps. Whether in the soft light of dawn or under the glow of night lights surrounding the Democracy Monument, this avenue serves as the artery of the people. It’s a stage for cultural expression, political voice, and the emotional pulse of Thai society through time.

From past to present, every step along this path holds meaning. Some come here out of faith, some for exploration, and others just to sit quietly under the trees and reflect on life. The changes are evident—in new buildings, modern shops, or the fashion of passersby—but the soul of these places remains unchanged. They continue to offer shelter, both physically and spiritually, for people of every class, age, and dream.

In a world that spins faster every day, revisiting these places of the past allows us to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the cultural roots and spirit of our nation.

Because sometimes, a journey is not always about moving forward—but rather, turning back to understand where we come from, and where we’re meant to go.

Travel like the wind, through memories to better understand the present—and prepare for what lies ahead.
