The Grand Palace is a very important tourist attraction for Thai people. With its beauty, it opens its doors to welcome many foreign tourists every year. It used to be the residence of the kings during the Rattanakosin period, from the reign of King Rama I to the reign of King Rama V. It is still the place for various important royal ceremonies
The area is divided into Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram (Wat Phra Kaew) and the royal court area where the kings reside and work to emphasize politeness. Shorts or sandals are not allowed, but tourists can rent skirts to wear. It is very convenient to travel.
Take the Chao Phraya River boat from Saphan Taksin Station to Tha Tien to see the beautiful scenery on both sides of the Chao Phraya River. Around the Grand Palace, there are many important tourist attractions, such as Wat Arun or Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimonmangklararm Ratchaworawihan (Wat Phra Non).
