Listening to the Voices of the Forest, Speaking to the Silence Within

Travel like the wind : Suchart Choolee

Takhro Waterfall is nestled deep inside Khao Yai National Park, in the Nadi District of Prachinburi Province. Surrounded by a tranquil forest far from the noise of the city and the pressure of time, the trail to the waterfall leads you past towering trees, winding vines, and the earthy scent of rain-soaked soil—gently guiding your heart back to a place of quiet simplicity.

Deep in the forest, where there are no car engines or alarm clocks, the water flows steadily over rock formations. Its sound is not loud or aggressive, but steady, strong, and continuous—like an ancient chant that never stops. It’s a sound that seems still, yet carries the energy of constant movement.

I sat beneath the shade of tall trees, where sunlight filtered softly through the leaves. My breath slowed without me noticing. The phone I had clung to all day now rested quietly in my lap. All that remained was the sound of the waterfall, the rustling of leaves, and the long-lost sound of silence.

In a world overwhelmed by urgency, competition, and external noise that drowns out the inner voice, sitting quietly beside Takhro Waterfall awakened sounds I had forgotten—unhurried birdsong, the crack of twigs underfoot, the calm rhythm of my heartbeat, and the emotions I had long avoided.

The waterfall doesn’t just move forward; it mirrors the truth of life that never truly stands still. Some of its waters splash and disappear, some sink into the rocks, and some come together to form a new stream—just like our feelings, which sometimes fade, sometimes hurt, and sometimes come together as renewed strength.

The “voice of everything” heard at Takhro Waterfall is not merely a sound of nature, but a voice of awareness, acceptance, and quiet understanding—words not spoken, but deeply felt. Sometimes, we don’t need advice from anyone. We don’t need a podcast or a self-help book. We just need to travel far enough to hear the sound of nature— and sit still long enough to hear the voice within.
