Travel Like the Wind – Suchart Choolee

Whenever I feel lost in the chaos of everyday life, escaping the fast-paced rhythms of the city to seek out a quiet, tranquil place becomes a simple yet powerful remedy. Standing amidst the embrace of mountains, letting my eyes wander toward the horizon where the sky meets a maze of ridges and peaks, I take a deep breath of fresh air and listen to the stream weaving its way through the hills—nourishing trees, grasses, and all living things. Nature, in its quiet balance, gently reminds me that no matter how vast or complex the world may seem, there remains a timeless beauty rooted in simplicity.

Often, I find myself worn out by city life—where the sound of car horns replaces birdsong, and the sky is veiled by fumes from exhaust pipes. These are the signs that tell me it’s time to journey once more—back to nature. To let the mountains and rivers surround my weary soul, to allow the stillness of the forest to soothe my heart and restore the energy that slowly slips away. This time, I came with someone I wanted to share this true, unfiltered beauty with—the kind that cannot be manufactured.

Our destination was Ratchaburi, a province cradled by one of Thailand’s most majestic mountain ranges: the Thongchai Range, which stretches from the Lao border in the north and continues southward, eventually connecting with the Tenasserim Hills. Together, they form a natural border between Thailand and Myanmar, spanning provinces like Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Chumphon. It is one of the longest and most significant mountain chains in the country.

Along the winding road, we were greeted by the scent of damp earth, the fragrance of rain-soaked leaves, and the gentle wind that gradually softened the weight on our hearts .When we finally reached a small campsite by a clear mountain stream, I found a peaceful corner beneath the shade of towering trees—perfect for pitching our tent. The soft murmur of the water flowed like a gentle melody, calming the mind. Leaves rustled above as the breeze passed through the canopy. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and let myself fully absorb the vast and unconfined presence of the natural world.

The next morning, golden sunlight filtered through the treetops. The air was so fresh and crisp, I wished time would stand still. With a cup of hot coffee in hand by the stream, I let my thoughts drift with the sounds of flowing water, birdsong, and the steady rhythm of my heart—slowly falling into sync with the nature around me.

In this boundless world, nature remains the only force that is powerful yet humble, immense yet unassuming, gentle yet steady. Humans may build skyscrapers that pierce the clouds, but no one can create a mountain or a river by hand. Nature, therefore, becomes a teacher—one that teaches us how to coexist with simplicity, and to share without speaking.

Camping in the forest isn’t merely an escape. It’s a return—to ourselves, to the quiet voice within, and to a deeper connection with the world around us. For in nature’s embrace, there are not just trees and streams—but often, the quiet answers to life itself.

And perhaps most importantly, it is about sharing this world—just as it is—with someone. A world without artificial lights or screens, without notifications or deadlines. So that they, too, may understand how silence and stillness can lead us to rediscover our original human nature—gently Wrapped in the embrace of nature.
