Travel like the wind – Suchart Choolee

Sometimes, a journey doesn’t need a fixed destination. All we need is to let our hearts drift like the wind—carrying away the weight of daily life and leading us to a place of peace, faith, and inspiration. Wat Saket, more commonly known as the Golden Mount, is one such sanctuary nestled quietly in the heart of bustling Bangkok.

Located in the Phra Nakhon district, the Golden Mount stands out with its gleaming golden chedi perched atop an artificial hill. It’s hard to believe that amid the chaos of the city lies a serene place like this, waiting for travelers to discover. Climbing its 320-step spiral staircase may seem tiring, but in truth, it becomes a meditative walk—slow steps, deep breaths, and a calm mind following the breeze that dances through the trees and around the golden spire.

At the summit, a panoramic view of Bangkok unfolds before you. The once-chaotic city now looks peaceful and still. Up here, there are no honking cars, no rushing footsteps—just the sound of the wind, that same wind of freedom that touches the heart and reminds us to travel like the wind.

The true beauty of the Golden Mount isn’t just in its architecture or its view. It lies in how it makes you feel—whether you’re offering a quiet prayer, paying respect to the Buddha, or simply standing still under the open sky. That moment of stillness can be more powerful than words, offering a quiet kind of clarity.

Wat Saket is more than just a religious site; it is a resting place for the soul. It is a space where we can pause, gather strength, and reflect before continuing on our path.

Like the wind—formless, boundless, and free—we too can live and travel with the same spirit. Let your heart take you where it longs to go. And perhaps, someday, it will lead you to the peaceful heights of the Golden Mount.
